After you create a playlist in Windows Media Center on a Windows Vista-based computer, the playlist is not available to Windows Media Center Extender devices. The playlist does not appear in the music library of any device.

You try to open some Web sites in a Web browser on a Windows Vista-based computer. However, you may experience slow Internet connectivity, and you may receive the following error message:

When you try to install a program on a Windows Vista-based computer by using the Install a program from the network item in Control Panel, you may receive an error message that resembles the following

Fatal error during installation

Additionally, if you have Windows Installer logging enabled, you notice, in the Windows Installer log file, that Windows Installer tries to access the following folder:

\\SERVER-SHARE\COMPUTER_NAME$\cached\appdata(roaming)

Note: SERVER-SHARE is a placeholder for the actual server share name. COMPUTER_NAME is a placeholder for the actual computer name.

Vista Updates, or SP1 Components?

Update?Someone over at AeroXperience noticed that those subscribed to the Windows Server 2008 beta on Microsoft Connect now have access to some updates for Vista. These updates don’t seem to address compatibility issues between Server 2008 and Vista, so why those users were granted access is unclear, but by the amount of detail given, these updates to appear valid. On a Windows Vista-based computer, you delete a picture in the Picture Library in Windows Media Center. The picture thumbnail still appears in the Picture Library. The picture thumbnail appears in the Picture Library until you exit and then return to the Picture Library.

You use the Library Setup Wizard to add a multimedia folder to watch in Windows Media Center in Windows Vista. However, when you select the option to stop watching the folder, the folder or its contents remain in the Media Library. This problem can occur for any of the following Media Library areas of Windows Media Center:

  • Picture Library
  • Music Library
  • Videos Library

You expect that after you stop watching a folder, the folder or its contents will no longer appear in the Media Library.
