Situation
Attempting to register Windows XP SP3 or Vista SP1 against a ZCM 10.0.3 Server will result in “Unable to Register with ZCM. Server Error -21.”

On a Windows Vista-based Tablet PC that has Microsoft Office Outlook installed, the Windows Search Indexer crashes. When this issue occurs, you receive the following error message:

Microsoft Windows Search Indexer stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.

When the Windows Search Indexer crashes, you cannot search in Outlook. In this situation, you must restart both the Windows Search Indexer and Outlook.

You may receive one of the following error messages:

  • Program too big to fit in memory
  • ProgramName is not a valid Win32 application

  • On a Windows Vista-based or a Windows XP-based computer, you download the Group Policy preference client-side extensions that are described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article (KB) 943729.
  • You try to turn on tracing for individual preference extensions by enabling and configuring the administrative template settings in the following location:

    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\ExtensionName Policy Processing

In this scenario, nothing is present under the administrative template settings at Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy.

When you use the DirectSound audio renderer on Windows Vista to play audio and video, noticeable problems occur in the video if a gap exists in the audio data. This problem occurs if you are using an audio bit depth that is larger than 16-bit depth.

Consider the following scenario. You develop an application that uses the VDMEnumProcessWOW function to enumerate virtual DOS machines (VDMs) that are running 16-bit Windows tasks. However, when the application runs on a computer that is running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista, the application returns no output. Or, the application returns incorrect output.

For example, you may experience this problem when you use the application to return a list of 16-bit Notepad instances.
