ITsVISTA KB-Link: KB955419

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008.
  • You use the built-in backup application to back up data to a slim-slot optical disc drive.
  • The backup data requires multiple discs to save.
  • After the first disc is full, you press the eject button to eject the disc.

In this scenario, you receive a “Preparing to eject” message in the notification area. However, the disc does not eject. When you press the eject button again, the disc ejects. However, when you put the disc back into the drive, the disc may be unreadable.

ITsVISTA KB-Link: KB955734

On a computer that is running Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, or Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive the following Stop error message:

0x000000D1 ( parameter1 , parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 ) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Notes

  • The four parameters in this error message vary, depending on the computer’s configuration.
  • Not all “0x000000D1″ Stop errors are caused by this problem.

Typically, this issue occurs on a multiprocessor computer.

ITsVISTA KB-Link: KB954962

A fax application or the Windows Fax and Scan application may randomly crash when you try to send or receive fax documents on a Windows Server 2008-based or Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based computer.

When this problem occurs, you may find an event in the Application event log that resembles the following event:

Faulting application WFS.exe or [application name], version [version number], time stamp [time stamp], faulting module WFS.exe or [application name], version [version number], time stamp [time stamp], exception code 0xc0000094, fault offset [offset], process id [process ID], application start time [start time].

ITsVISTA KB-Link: KB956115

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
  • The computer has a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Express interface.
  • You have at least one PCI Express card that does not fully support Active State Power Management (ASPM) inserted.
  • You restart the computer.

In this scenario, an internal error may occur during restart. For example, a CPU IERR error may occur. Additionally, the system may stop responding.

This problem occurs approximately one time in every 500 restarts. Therefore, you usually experience this issue only when you are running restart tests. However, the risk of this problem occurring increases significantly if the following conditions are true:

  • You apply hotfix 952681 on the computer.
  • You insert PCI Express cards that do not fully support ASPM into all available PCI Express slots.
